About Me: I am the graddaughter of Zippo Pine Bar. I was adopted by my owners in 1998 at an auction. I was only 3 years old. I almost died shortly after because my new owners didn't know that my cruel former owners gave me steroids. I went off it cold turkey and lost a lot of weight. I'm so glad my new owners adopted me and loved me because they spent thousands of dollars to get me healthy again. My owners daughter showed me for 5 years in 4-H and I got her a lot of blue ribbons and trophies. We even went to state fair together in 2002! Her and I confided in each other. We were best friends. Unfortunately, she had to leave for college and couldn't show me anymore because she was too old for 4-H. She didn't get to ride me like she wanted to because of college and her job. Last year I lost my sight in my right eye, but I still allowed her to ride me because I trusted her. Unfortunately, this year I lost my sight in my left eye, leaving me completely blind. I still let her ride me a couple weeks before. I wanted to let her know that that was going to be the last ride I could give her, so I was really good. I felt bad because I overheard her talking to her dad about how she had time now to show me again, but they didn't know I was blind in my left eye yet. Shortly after that day, at night I got scared because I couldn't see and I kept bumping into things, scratching my face. I wouldn't do anything because I was scared I was going to hurt myself. A week later, my owners made the decision to put me down. They tried to find an alternative route, but everyone said it was the best thing to do. I was only 12 years old, which is pretty young for a horse. I was blessed to have such loving, caring owners who put their faith in me and extended my life by 9 years. Anyone else probably would've put me down when I was 3. The steroids that my former owners gave me is what made me go blind at an early age. Also I heard the vet tell my owners before they put me down, that I had no vein on the right side of my neck because of the steroids my cruel former owners gave me. I know my best friend who rode me was really upset about putting me down. I know because I heard her cry. My owners buried me on the hill where she always rode me. She comes and visits me often. I am much happier now because I can see. Every night I like to run across the night sky.
