Severe Anxiety During T-Storms

Posted in Behavior on May 09 (1 comment)
My 62lb chow-mix, Buddy, has severe anxieties that seem to only surface during thunder and lightning storms. Since the storm sea. . .
Owner: Daniel
About Me: Buddy (formerly known as Bear) was abondoned by his original owners and found us in January of 2002 after 3 weeks of living on the streets. While he looked horrible with matted fur and had an indescribable stench, his personality was evident from the start. We took him in immediately, fed him and were pleasantly surprised by his coat once he was clean - so much so that we decided to forego plans to turn him over for adoption. He received a clean bill of health from the vet, but we found a microchip from the former owner - and promptly contacted them. They had indeed abandoned him and were unfazed with the news he had found a new home. Bad people. Great dog.
Nicknames: B, Big Fur, Fluffer Budder
My Motto: Can I please have a bite?
Likes: The backyard, a good meal, riding in the car, having company over, walks, marking the neighborhood, playtime and brother Kramer (a cat).
Pet-peeves: Thunderstorms (see picture from April '07), annual trip to the vet, any groomer and the pet wash.
Best Tricks: Plucking a live squirrel from a not so low hanging branch and high five. Is pathetic begging for food a trick?
Favorite Activities: Seeing the grandparents, outside & play time, getting brushed, a good breeze from riding in the car and napping.
Favorite Food: pot roast, hotdogs, hamburger, chicken, IAMS lamb & rice formula
Favorite Toy: stuffed squirrel and a tennis ball
Favorite Walk: Any of the trails at Eagle Creek Park or just around the neighborhood.
