About Me: In Oct. 2007, Mom went to dinner with her parents in Indianapolis. There was a wait at the restaurant so while her parents went to the bar, Mom went to the pet store nextdoor. She saw me in a cage and picked me up and cuddled me. I was very gentle and calm, and I even gave her some little bunny kisses. It was then that she noticed the tumorlike mass hanging off the left side of my face. She pointed this out to the people working there and they were unsympathetic. So she said a little prayer for me and left me to join her parents. I thought that was it...that I was just going to die in the petstore. Little did I know that after dinner, Mom called my Dad and told him that even though they already had 25 pets...they were getting a bunny. Dad, being used to Mom's attitude when a helpless creature is in need, said ok. That night, Mom went back to Bloomington, but the next day she did research on bunny ailments and found out that the thing on my face was likely an abscess...meaning that it would very soon be fatal without surgery. Two days later she finally got the owner of the store on the phone and said that she would pay for my treatment if she could have me for free. The owner wasn't very happy with the idea to begin with, but Mom kept pushing (almost threatening to call animal control...which had told her they would sieze me from the store if necessary). Eventually, the owner said my Mom could have me for free, so she ran out to the car and started the long drive back to Indy. When she got back to the store, the owner made Mom show her my abscess to be sure it was real and then sent us on our way. From there, Mom took me straight to her exotics vet, where my surgery was already scheduled for that afternoon. The vet had to remove a large amount of tissue from my face (just smaller than a golf ball) and told my mom that I was a maximum of 48 hours from a fatal blood infection when she brought me in. But now, I am a healthy crazy, happy, loving, precious little bunny. Mom and Dad let me run around the house when they're home and I do get in to a lot of mischief, but they wouldn't trade me for the world!
