Fat Bottomed Beagle!!

Barney on Nutrition - Mon, November 26 2007

Well, mom is putting me on a diet! I had to go to IVEC Wednesday night because my eye was swollen and yucky - no scratch just irritated. When I got on the scale I weighed 41.4 pounds!! Mom noticed I was getting a little chunky, but wow 41 pounds! How much should a Beagle weigh??? Mom said that I should share some of my chubbiness with my sister Krissy (she needs to gain some weight). Is there a dog food out there like the Iams multi-cat, that will work for skinny and chubby dogs??????

Well, I'm 38 lbs. and mom says I'm chunky. I think it depends on the type of bealge, cuz there's 13" and 15" beagles. I think I'm supposed to be around 30, but I don't really know, and neither does mom. She says I'm just cute.

Oh Barney, I think you're just adorable. I don't think you can "share" chubbiness though, or else my sis, KC would have "shared" hers a long time ago.

He's FAT don't let him fool ya! Mom even had to return the coat and sweater she got him because the were too small! You would think with all of that "extra" he wouldn't need a coat or sweater....what a wimp!

I agree KC and Eddie we are just "big boned". How can I be fat when Krissy steals all of the treats???? Mom just has more of me to love!!!

A beagle's weight is fairly dependent on the beagle's body type. Beauregard, for instance, is long and taller and thinner, with gazelle-like movements when he galumphs around. The large biped says that I am built like a linebacker: not tall and long, but wide and compact. I'll have to cold nose him for that again.

Besides, We're famous for our beagle bellies. We HAVE to keep those around, it's what makes us beagles!

I feel your pain, Barney. I weigh about 30 lbs, but my Mom says I look like a sausage! That offends me, but I think it is hard for our specific breed to stay trim. Not getting table scraps helps I'm sure, but who wants to live like that? I have heard that Iams can actually be more fattening than other dog foods. My mom feeds us Nutro Small Bites and it is restricted to like 1 cup a day. Good luck, pal!

HA HA, I just thought of something...isn't there asong. "Fat bottomed girls make world go round" or something like that. We can just change it to beagles and it can be our theme song!

Mama said I've put on some weight since we moved to Grandma's. I think I'm still growing, filling out if you will. AND Mama already wrote Fat Bottom Basset. Check my site. You could just replace Basset with Beagles but I don't see anything wrong with a little junk in the trunk. Fat and Sassy, I say (as long as we're healthy). Mama says I'm 40 lbs of twisted steel and doggie appeal. She's sort of a dork ;0)

I weigh 40 lbs. and dad calls me a fat boy. Mom says I am beautiful and should be a dog model. I can't help it if I'm an emotional eater.

I weighed 44 pounds last time I was at the vet. Mom is not sure what I should weigh, but she cut my food back a little. She said I had the sausage look. I'm just muscular!!
