Been there, done that and have many trophies, Abby.
Part of my issue was my food so we switched to a hollistic kind (right now, we have duck but usually we are fish gals). That helped me a lot.
I still have itchy paws and legs so I take Benedryl during the day time to help. It does, some, but I'm still itchy.
Allery...That's my middle name...
Gunner has been through all the allergy testing. It started with chronic ear infections and has cost us a LOT of $$$. We went through 3 vets, food testing, allergy test to find out he is pretty much allergic to everything. Benedryl never really did anything but take the edge off but he lot all his hair behind his ears from scratching and was constantly chewing on his paws. We have finally opted to switch to Eagle Pack Hollistic food, (fish flavor). We also started him on Atopica, a non steroid allergy pill that he takes once a day. It's VERY expensive but he has been on it a week and a half and seems to be a happier boy. Still a little early to tell if it is going to be the cure, but so far I am happy. Once the meds take effect we can ween him down to hopefully just a few times a week which will obviously save us money. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any further questions. We have been going through it for almost 2 years now and I am happy to help any way I can.... Amanda
I've been through the allergy test to determine I'm allergic to several things. I get an allergy shot once a week and it has really helped. It is expensive though. I used to have to take steroids or I would scratch and bite my fur out. I had ear infections too. I started the allergy shots this summer and was able to stay off the steroids. I did take Benadryl. I also haven't had an ear infection since starting them. Good luck to you! Mom switched my food, tried holistic additives, etc. Nothing worked for me as well as the allergy shots.
