I was microchipped at the Indy Humane Society and my chip is with 24PetWatch. Zoey came from a rescue that chips them all before they can go home. Both mom's info and the rescue's info is with her chip. Would you believe they have people who adopt animals who become "lost" and they don't want them back when they're found? The rescue will then take them back. Some people are just ridiculous. Mom keeps our adoptive papers, rabies tags and our chip info in the fireproof safe so if we run away she won't be in a panic to remember where in the house she put them...and if there's a fire she still has our important info.
Delilah, good point. I know personally with HomeAgain, if you register online they will only accept registrations at $14.50 for a YEARLY fee. But, if you fill out the paperwork and call it in, fax it, or mail it, it's only a ONE TIME fee of $17.50
So, please, if you make the effort to micro chip, then make sure you get them registered and for God sakes make sure when your pet is outside he/she has their collar WITH id tags on.
Also, check the calendar here out, the Humane Society downtown always has something about microchipping your pet and I think it's only $10.
