Microchips

Buster on Lost Pets - Mon, November 19 2007

We were wondering how many of you have microchips and if you are registered with your chip company (ours is Home Again) to receive emails about lost pets.

Me and Boogie both have chips. Mommy says it's for "just in case".

What a great name you have! I am microchipped, just to be on the safe side.

We're all chipped, but not registered to receive lost-pet emails. My mom checks online lost'n'found sites fairly often to see if a stray that's hanging around is a lost pet.

The Princess was required to have a microchip inserted before her adoptive mom and dad took her home from the City Dog Pound. She thinks of it as 'jewelry'

I was microchipped at the Indy Humane Society and my chip is with 24PetWatch. Zoey came from a rescue that chips them all before they can go home. Both mom's info and the rescue's info is with her chip. Would you believe they have people who adopt animals who become "lost" and they don't want them back when they're found? The rescue will then take them back. Some people are just ridiculous. Mom keeps our adoptive papers, rabies tags and our chip info in the fireproof safe so if we run away she won't be in a panic to remember where in the house she put them...and if there's a fire she still has our important info.

Buster, The Princess Emma thanks you! She just found out that although her parents registered her in 2000, her account had never been activated! (Alas, poor stupid humans.) Your message was quite helpful.

Momma got me microchipped in April. It hurt, but I know it was for my own good.

I got my microchip at IACC it's from Home Again. My feline sisters got theirs at HSI and they are from 24PetWatch. We are all registered but I don't think Ma gets e-mails regarding lost pets, she'll check on that!! Good for you, Buster and Boogie!!!!!

Well my breeder had me microchipped before I even came to live with my mom.

Mommy adopted me from Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue (GLMR.org) so I was already chipped. If I ever get lost GLMR and Mom will be notified.

I'm not chipped yet but Mom said I am going to be either when I get neutered or if there is a microchip clinic before then.

Delilah, good point. I know personally with HomeAgain, if you register online they will only accept registrations at $14.50 for a YEARLY fee. But, if you fill out the paperwork and call it in, fax it, or mail it, it's only a ONE TIME fee of $17.50
So, please, if you make the effort to micro chip, then make sure you get them registered and for God sakes make sure when your pet is outside he/she has their collar WITH id tags on.
Also, check the calendar here out, the Humane Society downtown always has something about microchipping your pet and I think it's only $10.

We're both chipped here too... better safe than sorry. Dad teases us that we'll be scanned like groceries but I don't care as long as I get to go home.
