I like to give my mama lovins too-especially in the mornings. She doesn't get blisters but when I lick her chin it gets VERY itchy. I'm not sure what it's from. I suppose it could be from your saliva. If you find out, let us know.

I am technically allergic to cats, but the only time I am bothered by it is if they rub my face, and then I itch like crazy and get the sniffles. I just try to limit their affection to below my face, which means that I usually initiate it, so they don't have to come begging and rub against my face.

It's probably an allergic reaction, but nothing to be too concerned about. Maybe hives? People who are allergic to cats are typically allergic to their saliva. You may want to give River a bath or go to a groomer. I'm technically allergic to both of my cats, but a bath a month does a world of good. When cats are in rescues they share a lot of germs and such and getting a bath may help get rid of whatever you're having an allergic reaction to.
