INDY PIT CREW SITE

http://www.indypitcrew.org/default.html

this is their website i was talking about. everyone should read this and keep on your favorites!! keep up to date on what is happening with our breed here in indy. i saw yet again on the news that mayor peterson wants an outright ban on pit bulls. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! we need to fight the CRIME that is happening in those very neighborhoods where these attacks are happening.for some reason, this isn't the focus by mayor peterson...just the dogs. my mom says we will leave marion county, sell the house...everything, if they ever allow a breed ban. we cannot let this happen here in indy!!!

Arrooo Mom is so torn on this issue. She is against any kind of ban on certain breeds. Why cant we ban certain people from owning a dog? If there was a ban MAYBE some of the dog fighting would go down, and the so called "attacks". Personally I dont believe that people are just sitting there and some random dog leaps out of the bushes and mauls them. So many good dogs would be euthnized while the appeal of owning a PB would make them an even hotter commodity. Grrrr, yup a ban on stupid humans would be much more effective!

My family thinks that all of these stupid OWNERS need to be neutered!! If stupid owners would stop breeding, we'd ALL be better off!! Dang it!!!!!!!!! My mom was just visiting the pit crew site and it made her cry... We're behind you all %100.

It's so sad what has happened to this breed. Pits can make such great pets, but unfortunately the wrong people often obtain pits for the wrong reasons -- dog fighting (way to go Michael Vic) and street cred. And of course the media spreads fear of pits by reporting attacks (notice you never hear news when other breeds bite and they rarely give you the full situation about why the attack occurred) I would hate to see a breed banned because of irresponsible owners...instead there should be tougher laws against those who abuse pits (or any animal for that matter).

p.s. for those who want to learn more about pits, the Hamilton County Humane Society has lots of info on their website: http://www.hamiltonhumane.com/pit_bulls/pitbulls_may2007.htm

We are very saddened by the prospect of banning pit bulls here in Indy. It is absolutely ridiculous, I never thought I'd live in one of "those places".

Perhaps instead of BSL, require owners to be responsible. Perhaps require that all dog owners spay or neuter their dog unless there is a medical reason not to supported by a licensed vet or they are given a 'license' to breed-yes, I believe breeders should have to have a license and be screened, as I learn more and more about shady breeders and puppy mills, I more strongly support having to be approved to breed your dogs). There should also be chain-laws that are enforced(ie a dog can't be outside on a chain all day). Also, all dogs should be leashed in public. Of course, dogs should never be trained to fight and any dog fighting/mean training found should be completely intolerable supported with jail time.

If these things are met, I believe that vicious dog attacks would drastically go down, if not almost be eliminated.

Mommy and I are just worried sick over this! Please, please everyone. Go to this site and spread the word to others. Pits are wonderful dogs that can make wonderful pets. What do they really think BSL is going to do? All it is doing is punishing the good people with the well mannered, nice dogs! The bad people with the innocent dogs they have RAISED, TRAINED, and ABUSED to the point they become dangerous are just going to keep on doing it or find someplace new to do it. BSL is not solving the problem because it is a breed they are addressing, not the people behind the dogs.

p.s. Mikey you are a very handsome boy! And look at our faces-the same markings!
