Who here has read "Marley and Me

Serena on Activities - Tue, May 29 2007

What a terrific book! Yes, it has some sad parts, but I love how the author gains insight about his own life through Marley.
Any other good "doggie" books out there?

I also have read "Chicken Soup for the Dog & Cat Lovers Soul" very good

Oh yes. I read Marley and Me even though I knew I'd cry. It is DEFINITELY a must read as far as I am concerned for anyone wanting to adopt a labrador retriever puppy. As for other good doggy books, there is a series on "bloodhounds" that we really enjoy. Unfortunately we bought paperbacks and as such have donated all of them to a local senior citizens home so I don't remember the name of the author.

I borrowed Marley & Me on CD from the library, really helped the 69/465 commute seem more tolerable! Theres a new one out about Barney, the beagle that was always with the weather guy, I want to get that one soon.

Marley and Me is such a good book, but I still have a few chapters to go. It's amazing how similar labs can be. There were so many parts that were exactly like our lab.

I LOVED that book. Some parts reminded me so much of Kippie. Other parts made me happy that she is not a purebred and 100 pounds, 60 pounds is big enough for me.

Three Dog Bakery has a book on their history and the founding dogs - Dottie, Sarah & Gracie called Amazing Gracie and a few other cookbooks too. Check at the stores or Amazon.com

Yes, our Mom read Marley and Me and told us all about it. She has trouble with the sad parts though. She is a real softie when it comes to dogs. Another great book is called Jazzy and Me by Cindy Adams, and Mom is now reading a book called The Good Dog, about a border collie. Love those dog books!!!!!!!

I love this book! I knew it would make me cry, and boy did it. But, it was very funny and an excellent read for all animal lovers.

Hi Serena, Just wanted to add a couple things to my sister Sunyrs comments. The one book is called A Good Dog and its by Jon Katz. There is also a great sequel to Jazzy and me that is called Living a Dogs Life, by Cindy Adams. Another fun one is called Its okay to miss the bed on the first jump, which is written by John O'Hurley. Its about lessons he has learned from dogs. Enjoy!

ooh, oooh, oooh, our mama LOVED Marley and me. She read it in one night. She lent it to some other people. My mama says that Marley is so funny in that book! Maybe my mama will write a book about us some time!

I started the book but could not finish it because I knew how it was going to end. Right now I am reading "Amazing Gracie". It is the story behind 3 Dog Bakery and what inspired the owners to start a business!

Oh jeeezzz! I can't take sad endings (especially about animals) but now I have to read this book. I think every book & movie should have a happy ending!!!!!! I LOVE the movie "Turner & Hooch" It is friggin' hilarious!! The ending though is sad & not necessary!
