Doggy ghost story-true

Blitzen on My Blog - Tue, October 30 2007

Mom posted this for me yesterday but it got buried quicker than a juicy bone. I asked her to re-post it because I thought some of you might like to read it so here goes.

I don't know how many of you will believe this but it's all true. Mom has always wondered how I could have made it to the horse farm from the puppy mill by myself. Then it was amazing that I ended up in a rescue that her friend has. Then mom happened to be looking at Petfinder and saw me, etc etc. When they first got me, I wouldn't make eye contact and was limp as a rag. It took quite some time to get me up and going. So that's another reason mom has always wondered how I escaped. Now she knows.......

Mom here:
Shortly after we got Blitzen, I would hear toenails clicking on the bathroom floor only to turn around and see nothing. No dogs anywhere. When I would go look for them, they would still be asleep in bed or somewhere like that. At the time, we only had Chase and Blitzen. I experienced this quite a few times but didn't tell my husband. One night, we were lying in bed and he rolled over and turned the lights back on. He said that he must have forgotten to put the boys in their crates because Blitzen was scratching on the side of the bed. Once the lights were on, we realized they were both securely locked in their crates but Blitzen was very wheezy. We put him in bed with us and went to sleep. My husband thought he was had imagined it and I didn't tell him about the phantom dog noises in the bathroom. One night, hubby turned the lights on because he said the dogs had gotten in bed with us. Once again, they were securely locked in their crates. He swore that one of them was just cuddling up to his leg. Keep in mind that we were both wide awake when these things happened. Finally I told him about the nail clicking noises and other strange sounds I have heard. We began calling the ghost dog Blitzen's grandma since we're pretty sure his mom is still at the mill. Hubby has experienced the scratching on the bed a few more times and each time Blitzen needed something. We feel that this ghost dog is the one that guided Blitzen on his journey from the mill and into our home. When I told the rescue's founder about it, she wasn't too surprised. They had all wondered how such a small sickly dog had made it as well. This is a dog that will run if the baby gate gets too close to him. You usually have to wait for him to come completely through it and away from the gate before you can shut it. Pam also said that they have a dog like this that seemed to have a spirit guide to help it find them.
Since then, I've experienced the nails clicking on the bathroom and kitchen floors. I have seen the blinds move and balls roll when there are no dogs around. I've even seen her a few times myself. The funny thing is that the dogs see her as well. All three of them were straining at the baby gate one day wanting out into the living room. Once I let them out, they all ran over to the other baby gate with their tails wagging. Blitzen was very obnoxious about wanting into the computer room(and that's so not his personality). I finally opened the baby gate and he ran into the computer room. I can only guess that they were all seeing grandma and he wanted to be with her. When I went into the computer room, he was just lying by the desk.
The funniest thing that's happened was done to my hubby one night. For whatever reason, Grandma likes to sleep on his side of the bed as do all the flesh and blood dogs. One night he began complaining about all the dogs in the bed. I told him that there were 3, same as usual. He said No, there were 6. Dayzee was between us, Blitzen was by me and Chase was by his head. BUT, there was 1 on his right side by his feet, 1 on his feet, and 1 farther up by his right leg. I did have to tell Grandma that she's welcome to sleep in the big bed but that her friends have to sleep elsewhere. She was pretty quiet after that for awhile but is back in full force now. She's the best dog we have. No noise, no mess, no barking and no cost. So that's the tale of Blitzen's Grandma as we call her. I've always been very sensitive to things like this so it's not too surprising that I would notice them. I've actually seen my ex's Grandma's ghost after she was killed on my birthday(and I had been sleeping in her bed). I have a friend that was killed years ago that still hangs around and watches over me. I am surprised by my husband though. He is very grounded and has never had another experience like this that I know of. I had not mentioned anything to him before he had his first few experiences. So take comfort knowing that your animals may very well be watching over you. Just keep an open mind and heart.

Daphne's Momma here.....Don't know if you read my post a while back about my being a medium (spiritually). We DO have contact with Spirits, its just that some people are more attuned to them than others. Spirits can be anything, people, dogs, cats, etc. As for your case, Grandma dog is probably here just making sure that her little loved ones are safe and well cared for. You might just want to tell her out loud that you love them SOOOOOO much.......just to keep reassuring her. I think that your situation with her is absolutely wonderful.

Riley's Mom here...I understand! When I'm in bed I feel somebody sit down on the side of the bed and I hear a faint voice say "Nan"...that's my brother who I dearly loved and was killed 24 years ago. And I see my Sammy. I will be sitting at my desk at home and I just glance out the window or turn around and there she is...I at first thought oh Ry has gotten up and is walking around. Then I realize that Ry is still laying at my feet. And again, when I'm in bed I feel something heavy lay down next to me. I wake up and Riley is still laying where he was, but the "other" is on my other side.
My Sammy passed away 5/19/04 while we were still in Shelbyville, IN. I had her cremated because I knew we were moving down to Alabama and I was not going to "plant her in the ground" in Indiana...she was going with us. She is now down here with us in Alabama...And her spirit lives on!

Every once in a while, I will be minding my own business at home and I'll have a feeling of something like a cat or small dog near my feet. I have to do a double take to make sure I'm not stepping on Maggie. But I look around and Maggie is nowhere near me. She's in the next room and Freckles is nowhere nearby, either. Sometimes I'll swear I see a dog run by out of the corner of my eye when I'm in the living room in the evening. Again, no Maggie to be found nearby the incident (she also runs like a herd of buffalo, too, so I know it's not really her). I spoke to a spirtual guide about it and she says it's the spirit of my childhood dog, Lucky. It's weird...I was only 6 when Lucky died so it's not like we were best friends. But I guess she knows this is the most happenin' place for dogs around here! Every once in a while, I'll catch one of the girls staring into the dark part of the house where I normally "see" a dog.

What a cool story! My mommy says she hopes that her childhood doggie Princess is with her. She wishes she could have spent more time with her at the end-- but Princess lived in MN far far away from IN!

Blitzie, that is so sweet that your Grandma watches over you and helped you find your forever home. My momma totally believes in spirits of all kinds, humans, pets, whatever. Sometimes bonds are so stong that death can't even break them.
