Hi Guys, I wanted to tell you about my mom's friend Barb who died last Sunday morning around 1:30 of metastatic breast cancer. Barb was one of the smartest and funniest women my mom has ever known. Mom met Barb in 2002 because they worked together. Barb didn't have a lot of family, just one sister who lives in WI and who basically seemed not to care too much about her sister. So, Barb's friends have been her family and have supported, encouraged and cared for her during her lengthy illness. My mom was with Barb when she died last weekend and has been grieving all week long.
Why am I telling you about Barb here on IndyPaws? Well, Barb was a lover of animals. One of the things that Barb found comfort in as she faced her last days was that she'd get to see her Casey-dog and Keisha-dog at the rainbow bridge as she crossed into heaven. To be honest, that thought was comforting to my mom too. Mom was going to take me to visit Barb last Sunday afternoon, but Barb died before I could go see her. I'll have to look for her when it's my time to cross the rainbow bridge.
A cool thing about Barb was that she always carried dog food, cat food, treats and toys for stray animals. She was very compassionate towards all living creatures (well, not politicians so much--teehee). Barb's memorial service is Saturday and one of the cool things is the the Southside Animal Shelter will benefit. They've asked that donations be made in lieu of flowers. Isn't that cool? I know lots of our dog and cat friends will benefit from that.
Thanks for letting me share about Barb. She was a great woman and I know you'd have thought so too.
