Owie on my paw!

Waylon Alan on Health - Mon, October 22 2007

I have a big nasty cut on the pad of my back foot. We are not too sure where it came from but it is pretty deep. It doesn't bleed all the time but just sometimes. That is how Mom and Dad found it. Mom cleaned it up real good with the help of Dad and is keeping ointment on it. Now I have to wear a silly stupid sock that Mom taped to my foot to keep me from licking the boo-boo medicine off it and hopefully protect it to allow it to heal. The sock makes me walk funny and I am on play restrictions. I know the others are laughing at me behind my back but Mom says she doesn't care. I have to wear it to get better. I am not allowed to chew at it and I am not allowed outside with Dixie and Conga (Conga is a house guest) when they are playing. I really hate this!

Mom says it looks pretty good and doesn't appear to be infected. She thinks she can nurse it herself without having to take me on a trip to the vet. She is picking up gauze bandage to wrap it up tonight and than put the sock over that. Hopefully that will help keep it from continuing to open up and bleed. She is open to any other suggestions anyone might have. Mom was wondering if that sugical "super glue" that they have used on her before in the ER is available over the counter. She thought if she could find it at the drug store she might try that. Does anyone know if/where you can get it? We will keep you posted on my progess.

Please send some puppy prayers for my speedy recovery. I am already tired of being on restrictions.

Thanks!!!!

Waylon, it must have something to do with being from Rushville. I have a cut toe pad also. Mine was an accident but Mom did it. I'm going to the Doc tonight & get it either glued or stitched.

Poor Waylon. That would hurt. I'm sorry you got a cut but you have a good mom taking care of you. Try a CVS or Walgreens for that glue stuff. It's probably not as strong as hospital stuff, but it's worth a try.

I am so sorry about your poor paw, Waylon. Perhaps you can convince your mom that your sock is the totality of a costume. You could be a sock monster. Or maybe she could paint a face on it or something. Whatever you do, don't let her put any headgear on you.

poor waylon!!!! i hope your foot heals fast!!! you might want to call the vet and see where you can get that super glue. honestly, if i'm thinking correctly, it's just plain ol super glue, nothing different than what you can buy at the store. (but ask the vet to be sure! :)

Awww, poor Rosie! I am really sorry to hear that. Let us know what the vet says/does. Maybe it will help my momma heal me.

I cut my paw a couple of months ago too. Dad and grammy put some hydrogen peroxide on it a couple of times a day and it got better and never got infected. (I got it digging in the backyard....shhhh...don't tell Dad or Grammy...okay?)

Nexcare/3M used to make a product called "liquid bandage" drops. Came in a little tube and was great for closing up cuts. It would stay on until the skin beneath it healed and then fell off, much like a scab would. Helps keep scarring down as well (on people).
