Your mom may have to resort to the dreaded leash. I have to do this sometimes when I get into a cat chasing frenzy. It involves keeping you on a leash at all times so she can correct your behavior the instant you start it. Doesn't take much of a correction, just a little leash jerk. After you seem to be getting the hang of it, she can try you off lead. If you start that zoomy behavior she calls you and says "Shadow, here." If you come right back to her you get a yummy treat and lots of praise. If you just turn and look at her you get just praise. If you start zooming again, you go back on the leash for awhile. It takes vigilance on her part but it is worth it, mom says. Pretty soon you will see that it is better for you to do what she asks you to do because you get rewards! Then she can just look at you and say "huh uh" or "quit" and you will know what she is talking about because you and she will have had a lot of conversations about it by then ☺
My mommy got us the best dog trainer ever. He helped us learn "leave it". Your mommy puts something desired under her foot, and waits for you to sniff, sniff, sniff around it. The second you get bored with sniffing, and walk away, or look up at your mom, you get a treat! Once you are consistent with looking up at your mom quickly, your mom can start saying "leave it" at the same time. After a while, leave it becomes an automatic walk-away, don't eat it, no command. Your mommy just better have treats on hand for this one!
