Grandpa's staying an extra week!

Maggie on My Blog - Sun, October 21 2007

So I just found out that Grandpa changed his flight info and is staying in town an extra week. That gives me more time to sniff his luggage and sleep in his bed when he's not in it!

He hasn't been staying with us very much; preferring to stay at the other house in town. He is still not very interested in all I have to bark, but he tries to listen. He laughs, which makes me bark louder. Most of the time, he just says in his best English, "Hey, why you bark? Wanna cookie? C'mon!" Then he runs towards the kitchen but never gives me any treats.

Freckles follows us, giving the occasional "Arroooh!". She likes to ring the bell so he gets up to let her outside and stares at him pitifully through the glass. Grandpa lets her in, goes to sit down and Freckles goes to the door, rings the bell...this goes on for a little while until he gives in and gives us both about 5 treats each.

Whew; it's going to be a long week if we have to train him all over again! Smell ya'll later, guys!

Can your grandpa come over here? I know how to ring the bell for treats, and I don't have any grandpas.

Grandpa is bilingual in Chinese and English. But in his old age, he's self conscious about his Chinese accent. I wish he spoke Dog! Then I could just tell him I want treats instead of going through all the work of ringing the bell, going outside, coming inside, etc, etc. Madeleine, Grandpa's not big into furkids to begin with, and I wouldn't want him to get the Mad Cow, from you-know-who.

Our grandpa gives us all kinds of treats too. Sounds like your grandpa is enjoying himself somewhat since he's staying longer. AND he's trainable....sometimes, it's hard to find good trainable humans. Enjoy your visit! xxoo Peaches

Shoot, I was hoping he spoke dog. Mom's friend tried to teach her to count in Chinese but that's one language mom woould fail in. My sister did pretty well! My grandpa is the king of treat giving AND he "drops" food from that table on purpose!!!! Oooooh, I can't wait for Thanksgiving.... *slobber*
