home remedy for tummy?

Jasmine on Health - Sun, October 21 2007

hey guys! For the past two days, when I go #2 it has been really soft and kinda runny..(sorry, gross I know :) Today I have just been laying around so far, but other than that I have been playing and eating normally. I know sometimes your parents give you cottage cheese or yogurt for "upset" tummies, but I didn't know if that meant vomiting, or soft #2's :) Anybody have any suggestions for anything mom could give me?

Happens with me too. I get white rice sometimes to help (and no treats, which always stinks). But, the main thing was we found out that I had some food allergies. We switched to holistic food with no chicken and it solved the problem. SO -- perhaps it's not your tummy ala humans but really it's your food?

I had to go to the vet for that problem because it wouldn't go away. I had to take antibiotics and eat nothing but white rice mixed with cottage cheese for a week. It was warm and yummy.

you can add some canned pumpkin to the mix, that adds fiber, and will help firm up stool. (oh, brown rice is much better for them than the bleached white rice ;o) also, you can do the cottage cheese, too, but if it's not better by tomorrow, i'd get her in for your vet to check her, and they can give her something to firm up her stool. hope she feels better!

P.S. canned pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie mix!! that has sugar and spices, you want the PLAIN pumpkin! :)

Brown Rice and small amounts of cottage cheese. I think that's why I don't have any tummy problems cause I get cottage cheese all the time. Not a lot a spoonful or so. Some breeders recommend rice and cottage cheese be included with your food. We get Turkey and Rice Purina One and of course I get my bowl of cottage cheese...mom got me hooked on that cause she lives on cottage cheese. Hope your tummy feels better.

I eat some plain yogurt, no flavor. It works when I puke and soft poopies. It's a magic food!!!

Thanks for the tips everybody...all that sounds like yummy stuff! Dad said he thinks he knows the culprit...apparently I have been eating "cat snacks" that he thinks Milo is accidently dragging out of his litter box...I thought those were a delicacy, why can't I eat them? Maybe I need some advice from Kirby about how to eat them without getting caught or getting sick :)

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I AM the poop expert. Now, about the "kitty krunchies"...After you get your nails trimmed is the BEST time, no noise on the floors and don't move around much, the collar tags are an awful signal to humans to where you are. Getting sick from cat poop? Well, I have no idea why you're having a problem. Let's just hope it wasn't the poop that made you sick. Try it again in a couple of days after your tummy settles down. I'd hate to think of you never being able to eat it....sad. Well, good luck with that!
