Sevo Question

Bella on Health - Wed, October 17 2007

Hello all my friends, once again!

My Mommy just has so many questions about that yucky word ... SPAYED. Thanks to all of my friends who wrote back to my Mommy earlier, she really loves all of the comments.

However, when Mommy talked to my doctor about getting my belly cut open he told her about something called Sevo. They told my Mommy the Sevo is a type of gas that they will put on my nose instead of injecting the medicine in with a needle to make me go to sleep. The doctor told her that using the Sevo as a form of sedation is much better than going under with the needle because it is much easier to wake up with and there is VERY little to NO nausea at all with the SEVO. Overall, the doctor told my Mommy that it will make me feel much better than if they injected the sleepy medicine into me with a needle.

Is there anyone out there who has had the Sevo instead of the needle before? If so can you please let my Mommy know whether it was better for your pet or not? She is having a very hard time making a decision and would love to hear from my other friends if they have had it before!

My Mommy is just a little OVER worried about me getting spayed ... but she only wants the best for me!!

Thanks for any comments you might have!

Love To All,

Bella

It's called Sevoflurane. It's the anesthetic gas of choice that is given to humans for surgery. Mom used to work in the human Operating Room...she said the gas smelled sweet and found it relaxing when she caught a whiff! I know my vet uses Isoflurane whenever I have to be put under for any procedures.
