ACCUSED OF STEALING!! THREATS?

Barney on Behavior - Tue, October 09 2007

Ok this will be long...My neighbor who is a BYB of coon dogs, has a male and female. The male used to be so under weight that he would get lose and come over to our house and I would feed him, emaciated! you could see all of his back bones and hips!...well, they had 11 puppies weeks ago and the mother died when they were 10 days old...I guess the puppies got out sometime last night or this morning. I walked our dogs at 4 am this morning up and down the road and never saw anything, then went to work and never saw a dog. Well, the jerk went to my husband's work not once but twice and accused him of stealing the puppies!!! Then Animal Control came to his work this afternoon and wanted to know what he did with the puppies!!!!!!!!!! HELLO we have a full house I have a stray and two other mutts!! Now we are very very worried about the safety of our dogs. They are fenced in but are outside doggies. I am calling the Sheriff Department tomorrow just so there is a complain on file. Any other suggestions?????

This is a sad scenario. Here you are trying to be a good citizen and feeding these dogs and then, this idiot has the nerve of accusing you of stealing them. Based on what you have said, I would not fault you if you had taken them ... they would be a lot better off. I think you are doing the right thing in contacting the Sheriff. I would just keep a close watch on all of your animals. My dad lives in Arkansas on a lot of land and he used to let his dogs wander around and one day, my dad's neighbor accused my dad's dogs of killing his chickens. Mind you, my dad lives in an area with tons of wildlife ... foxes, coyotes, racoons etc. that could have easily killed the chickens. Next thing you know my Dad's dog Britney got really ill and after taking her to the vet, it was discovered she was poisoned and she died. So now my Dad's two other dogs have to be penned up instead of being able to enjoy the life they once had. People are so mean.

Sometimes no good deed goes unpunished. What an unfair and terrible thing to have happened to you (and whatever fate befell those poor pups). Please keep us posted about how this turns out.
