Allergies and Dinovite

Gunner on Health - Wed, October 03 2007

Gunners mom here. I took Gunner back to the vet yesterday for allergy testing. The results are he is pretty much allergic to just about everything. I have decided as a last ditch effort to try Dinovite before doing the allergy shots for the rest of his life. I started Gunner on it this morning and he seems to really like it. I will keep everyone updated on how he is doing and give my opinion on Dinovite since no one seemed to know anything about it. I checked the website www.dinovite.com and read testimonials and I am hoping it will work. Let me know if you have any questions and I will post when I can. Thanks, Amanda

i have never heard of dinovite, but do you mind me asking what kind of food you are feeding? or what all have you tried? hopefully you can get him on the mend without having to waste your $$$ on allergy shots, because IMO, those are a big fat waste of $$! good luck, please keep us posted of his progress! :)

Let me know how it goes. I had never heard of this. Beverly is on allergy shots and just started this past May. I was able to keep her off steroids this summer, so they did help. Last summer, I had to give her steroids for at least 3 months or she would scratch her fur out. I tried switching her food. Now I think she eats the most expensive dog food there is! It's holistic, all-natural. It's a good food. I also tried some all-natural additive for several months, but it didn't do anything. It wasn't the same as Dinovite, so I really hope this works for you! The shots are expensive. I got lucky with Beverly because she's not allergic to a whole slew of things, so her shots are on the low end of the price scale. They're still expensive, but not as bad as some. If Dinovite works for you, I may try it on Bev.

Like always I agree with Joe. Allergy shots are very seldom the answer. Expensive and very toxic to the animal. Please at least before doing that try a natural raw meat, bone, and organ diet. It is amazing how often when a pet is allergic to every food they try that switching to a completely unprocessed diet makes the allergies disappear. Pretty much any commercial food you try is going to have some of the same chemicals and fillers in them. Rabbit tends to be especially hypoallergenic. Besides saving you a bunch of money and leaving the toxins out of Gunner, Gunner will love it too.

We have tried 2-3 different diets from the vet. I have had him on Iams, Royal Canin, Eagle Pack Holistic, etc. He is currently finishing up the vet food from Science Diet and then I am going to switch him to something different. He is liking the Dinovite and I am thinking about using a food they recommend on their website, Innova or Wellness. I can am not so sure about the raw food diet but will take any suggestions. Thanks for all your comments. Amanda
