Digging for Things Unknown

Baxter on Behavior - Thu, May 24 2007

My mom is getting a little tiny bit with me and my mad desire to eat her flowers and plants in her garden. She tried putting black pepper down. Ha! Like that could deter me from digging for moles, roots and other things unknown but smell good. I did actually eat some flowers. Does anyone know a good trick to keep me from tearing up my mom's garden?

My mom is making me ask this, so all you Beagles out there please don't think I'm being a goody-two-shoes.

Oh, boy do we beagles like to dig! It's in our blood! My folks gave me a place to dig and encouraged me to dig there (planting cookies and toys in the spot). It's out of the way so it doesn't bother anybody. They call it my "project". But while I didn't dig in the flowers, I loved to run through them, even jumping the garden fences they put around the flowers. They decided they didn't want to work that hard at training me to stay out so they moved all the flowers outside the fence.
