When my brother and I were little we didn't like the crate/kennel either. I even poo-ed in mine a few times when mom and dad were gone. Boy was mom upset about having to clean that up. Anyhow..mom and dad moved our crates to thier bedroom and we did much better. When they were home they would leave them open so that we could go in and out when ever we wanted. The would even sneak special treats in there for us to find. Mom would put us in our crates with a kong stuffed with peanut butter and bananas and leave us alone (she really went outside) for 30 min so we would get used to being in there. We also got them when mom and dad went to work. After about 2 weeks, when the kong came out we knew where to go and would go in the kennel on our own. I still didn't care for it and did the best I could to chew my blankie to shreads but eventually I grew out of it. I'm 3 now and I will actually go nap in my crate sometimes.
I hope this helps. If not your vet may have an air freshner type thing that is supposed to help with the anxiety. (might be less expensive to try PetSmart first)
Best of luck!!
I've been crate trained since mommy adopted me. About a year ago, mommy and I moved, and I threw a bit of a fuss in my crate.... but I do MUCH better when my crate is somewhere that I can see mommy and daddy. We finally ended up putting my in the hallway where I could see into their bedroom if I needed to. Eventually, I got used to my new apartment and now I don't care where my crate is - I'll go in when mommy says "kennel up" because I get a treat. Yum.
me and my friend snuggles, well we are a little differant..mom has always put us in a crate when she leaves, because she works nights, and we have accidents, but we love our cage..mom always gives us a treat when we go in..so we have learned when mom starts gathering her items for work,we know automaticly to get in the cage, cause we know we will get a treat..
