The day arrived. That bunny and I were nose to nose, in my yard today. I saw him before he saw me and off I went... the chase was on! We ran round and round, back and forth, under bushes, around the shed, under the tree... this was the best chase of my life! Mom came out and tried to incercept me but I was too quick and too determined. That little bunny ran & ran but I stayed with him. He finally hid under an evergreen, right by Mom. She told me to leave it but I really didn't want to listen. I kept running around looking for the rabbit. I circled that tree, then the shed, and then the whole yard again (just in case he escaped while I wasn't looking) but I couldn't pickup his scent. Mom tried to get me to come inside but I was too excited.
Then the fun ended. Dad came out. Now I was already in the doomsday chair for the barking incident yesterday in Dad's eyes so this little bunny issue wasn't helping my cause. He called me - I didn't come. He tried to trick me with treats - I didn't come. He tried the nice route - I didn't come. He tried the threat route -- nope, still too busy looking for that darn rabbit!
Wouldn't you know it, he snagged me by the collar and stated "Scout, House!" so I knew I was in trouble... and sure enough, I got a spanking once we made it inside. Wowzers that hurts when Daddy's mad at you!
He felt bad later, appologized and gave me a cookie.
I'm exhausted -- I need a nap.
PS: in case you are wondering.. I never caught the rabbit. Mom didn't want me to get bit or actually catch the rabbit.
