I'm still grounded.

Zeek on My Blog - Thu, August 30 2007

I couldn't help it, but I sure did scare Mom good on Sunday. She left the patio door open so I could run in and out, like she always does when the weather is nice enough. She was talking on the phone and I had only been out for 15 minutes. When she went out to get me, the gate was open and I was gone. She hung up the phone and was walking the streets barefoot calling my name to no avail. She called the lady across the street, and she came out to help look for me. Mom got in the car while Marie walked some more. Mom was frantic after an hour, and didn't know what else to do. She also had to be somewhere that had been postponed a LOT already and was at a loss. Two of the neighbors told her to go ahead and go, and that they would look. About ten minutes later, Marie found me walking Hague Rd (which is REALLY busy). She pulled over and called me and I came right to her. When she picked me up to put me in her car, though, I bit her on the thumb. I didn't break the skin, but I really got her attention. She put me in the car and called Mom. Then she took me home and put me back in my kitchen after leaving me outside long enough to go potty if I had to. I didn't need to because I had already p-mailed everything within the last three blocks of my adventure. Mom was really mad, but by the time she got home she had cooled off considerably. After she went and put the two new bungee cords on the gate (the latch had come undone because I never try to get it on my own) she came in to have a good, long talk with me. I didn't get a walk because she said that between the one I had, and the added adventure, I was done for the day. She also said NO CAR RIDES until we go to the airport Friday night to pick up Dad for the weekend. I sat on the couch with her all night and she kept telling me to never do that again, and that she loves me, and please never scare her like that again. She wants me around for a long time. I'm glad I'm back home. Now I have to "put my clothes on" before I even go out to inspect the yard in the mornings now. Is it Friday yet?

Oh, Zeek. You're poor Mama. I know how upset mine was when I ran to visit the neighbor @ Grandma's and she was able to get me pretty quickly. (After falling in a hole and trapsing through the woods) Don't do that anymore buddy. We want you around a long time too. It even made my Mama sad to read it. She couldn't imagine losing me. Glad the nice neighbor found out and got you back home. ETB

Your poor mom must have been frantic with worry! Maddie did that to our mom twice, and she somehow doesn't understand how upsetting that is to humans. Especially when she ran under the moving car. Stay safe, buddy.

Back when I was in college, I had a shepherd mix that went missing when I was in class. My mom couldn't find him anywhere and told me when I got home that he was gone. Well, long story short, he was under the shed, probably trying to stay cool.

Your poor mom! I got out of the yard one time and was over at the neighbor's, but mom couldn't see me. She started calling me, and I knew I'd better get home before she had a breakdown! Mom gets frantic when she thinks of us getting lost. The other night guests were leaving and mom stepped out the front door to say bye. Well, Minnie thought she would be slick and sneak by mom! I've never seen mom move so fast! Minnie ran between her legs. Mom hit the concrete, snatched Minnie up and put her back in the house. Silly Minnie! Like she has anywhere better to go than here. DUH!

Oh, Zeek, I know your mama was sooooo worried. One time my mama was taking me and KC for walks separately, and KC got out before mama knew it. Mama had just put on her slippers and then took off after him...blocks and blocks away, through other people yards...she could see KC but that silly dog would run from her. Mama finally caught her and carried her back home. Mama didn't talk to KC for quite a while after that. It hurt my mama's feelings and she cried and cried. I was mad at KC too. She can be sooo dumb sometimes. Doesn't she know that something horrible could've happened to her? Anyway, Zeek, please don't run away again....we love you too.
