I peed in Daddy's chair!

Beltane on Behavior - Mon, August 20 2007

Please help! Daddy went away for the weekend last week & I got up into his chair - right in front of Mom - & urinated right in the spot where I normally sit. The trouble is, now I can't stop. I have done this a few more times, but when no one is looking. Does anyone out there have any advice? Mom is very worried & Daddy wants to give me away! This is not the first time I have had behavior like this...I also urinate on the couch in the bedroom so now I am banned from there. Any advice you can give is appreciated!

***Update: I am going to the vet tomorrow to check out the possibility of a UTI! I will update you then...
Also, I was fixed before Mommy even got me...so that's not it.

i would take him to the vet and have him checked for a UTI, or possible urinary blockage. sometimes stress (like owners being gone) can bring on these things, or it could have been coming on slowly. if a cat isn't using it's litter box, and it always did before, there is usually a medical reason for it. good luck!

After ruling out medical issues at the vet.. make sure that your parents clean the chair (and couch) with an enzymatic type pet stain cleaner (something like Nature's Miracle). Because even if they can't smell it, you can and since it smells like a place to pee... you'll want to keep visiting that spot.

Oh my yes, get checked for UTI. Also, tell your Mommy to give you distilled water only-- this is so much better for your urinary tract. And may I ask, have you been "FIXED". I know it wasn't broken-- but!
