I have allergies also. My human mom found out that I am allergic to peanut butter. She was giving me these wonderful treats made out of peanut butter and I just loved them. But then I would lick my paws, rub my eyes and dig, dig, dig when I went to bed. The vet said to try eliminating things from my diet and since I only eat Royal Canin food and was only getting treats like pupcorn and peanut butter it was pretty easy to figure out where the culprit was! I hope you get better soon....
I am allergic to several types of grass, weeds and trees. Mom had allergy testing done, and I get an allergy shot once a week. It has helped me a lot this summer, but I have started itching a lot more in the past week. Mom started giving me a little more Benadryl to help. If it would just rain and cool off some, I would be fine!
i'm a groomer, and i have noticed dogs having more allergy issues this summer. i don't know if it is because it has been so dry, or what. my vet said most dogs are allergic to CLOVER, and that is everywhere. it depends on where you are itching or what you are having problems with. could be food, contact, or inhalant.you will just have to do an elimination thing to find out what it is. coming into fall, it's gonna be contact and inhalant big time, when the leaves get on the ground. :(
If it is a food allergy sometimes it can be very hard to narrow it down. Because pet foods have so many things in them. Even "premium" or "natural" pet foods are going to have dozens of ingredients. And most all of them use the same chemicals for processing and preservatives. So you still can't tell which ingredient it is that is the culprit and may go from food to food to food with the same trouble. You may want to try feeding a food with only ONE ingredient at a time. Much easier to track it down then. My Pet Carnivore (www.mypetcarnivore.com) sells ground rabbit, ground chicken, ground turkey, ground lamb, etc. with nothing added.
