we used to with jasper, then mike came along, would NOT eat it, so we went back to canidae. i want to go back to it sometime soon, and try joe on it. i know he would love it. i think mikey is just too LAZY to eat it, honestly! they all do get raw femur bones, though, and that keeps their teeth super clean. jasper is almost 10, and my vet was amazed because he has ZERO tartar on his teeth. how long have you been feeding raw? what would you say the pro's and cons are, as far as convenience? my only issue is that i travel a lot with joe (he is a SAR dog) and it just wouldn't be convenient to feed on those occasions. many times we will be gone for a week, and have little or no electricity where we are bunking.
A lot of crested owners feed the BARF diet--they all have good things to say about it. See...my mom doesn't cook--ever, even for herself or her boyfriend, so that would never work for her! She figures if she can't manage to prepare food for herself, she certainly is not going to do much better with the dogs (although she does prepare a nice pallet of dry plus canned with supplement every day for us!)
Everyone in our household is on a raw natural diet. Literally saved the life of a couple of our cats. And Jesse had been fed kibble till we got him but two weeks later his doggy odor and bad breath had gone away and his coat became gorgeous. Sadly Casey you will find that most people here are against it. Jude you need to tell your mom that with a RAW meat, bone and organ diet that is the point...you DON"T have to cook it. No preperation if you don't want. You can get whole ground animal (goat, rabbit, beef, chicken, whatever) in deli type containers so you just pop open the top and spoon it out. Just like serving canned food. Of course just using only the ground stuff is not going to keep the teeth shiny...they do need some raw meaty bones for that.
