I hate getting my nails trimmed

I hate getting my claws trimmed! I won't let mommy do it herself (I put up quite a fight) so she has to take me to the vet's and have them do it. I complain loudly to let everyone know how much I hate it. I don't see what the big deal is if my claws are sharp.

I hate having my nails trimmed too. I always have and I scream like I'm being tortured whenever my mom takes the clippers out of the drawer.

BUT...when my dad feeds me pieces of bologna while my mom clips my nails, SOMETIMES I calm down enough for them to do my nails. I still don't like it and I pout for a long time when they're done. Good luck!

I used to hate getting my nails trimmed too. But, my mom just decided to get me used to having my paws handled more. She rubs my paws and nails almost every day. This has reduced my anxiety about the trimmings. I am still not a huge fan of the dremmel that is used at the groomers, but the clippers my mom uses are o.k.

I use a dremel tool to "sand" down my white shepherds nails. They are too thick to cut with regular clippers.
Dremel even sells a tool for pets.
You have to be very carefull not to get the nail too hot. And do not get to close to the pink area in the nail.
Search the internet for trimming nails using dremel tools. There are some good instructions.
Using the dremel is fast and easy.

Um yeah, I know what you mean about the entire nail trimming thing. My mom always gives our apologies when I go to the vet. They have to put a muzzle on me and I do this thing where I curl my tongue and spit white foam on the doc. It's not very nice of me but I get so worked up. I think its the noise the nails make when they get clipped. Anyways, my mom dreads having to take me to the vet but it has to be done and she always feels so bad when we go. On the uphand I get to go Bye Bye!

Hi Saydee, Yes I hate that nail trim thing too. Everyone in the vets office has to hold me down. I have duclaws too and they need trimmed regularly. My Mom tries to soothe me when this is going on, but I know whats happening and I don't like it. Then they give me a bone when its all over, like that makes it all ok. Now when Dave from Shagnwagon is here to trim me and do my nails, thats ok, cause I really like him and he likes me too. So I do good for him.

i hear ya Saydee, I hate the ole nail trim. My mom takes me to Petco, the girls there are really nice and dont charge an arm/leg to dremel my nails. The dremel seems to work better since my quicks are long and nails are thick. Maybe one day someone who loves us furry creatures will come up with something that makes this process easier for us!
