you could do what I did to my Auntie the last time she came over...jumped on her and scratched her ;)...just kidding, but I hear you about people coming to your house and trying to be a parent to you. It happens to me all the time. People always think they know more than my momma...but she's the smartest human I know!! ;)
Your mom is absolutely right not to spank you, ESPECIALLY after you come back to her. Even after you get all grown up. All that does is teach you that something bad will happen if you have played chase, and then come back. Our mom always gives us a treat if we come when called. If we don't come the first time we don't get a treat. But she doesn't yell at us. When she is mad at us for not coming back immediately she talks in a happy dog voice but says things like "You are SUCH a bad dog" and "Where the hell did you think you were going?" but sounds very happy when she says it. That way we don't think we are in trouble, and she gets to vent a little bit. You have a smart mom.
OH Jax, I think you are very cute!! ......... My grandma and grandpa always believed that to house train a puppy you should rub their nose in where they peed. Mom would never do that though when she saw it happen to Loki, or my dad Thor. Thor had such a hard time learning not to go in the house. And he was traumatized by having his nose rubbed in his pee. He would get so excited playing in the house that he would forget he should go out to pee, that when he couldn't hold it anymore he would pee, as he was running outside through the 'doggie-door', so that he left zig-zags on the carpet. And he was always so sorry too.
I think that rubbing the dogs nose in their stuff is a generation thing... Mom remembers her dad doing that to her puppy and she cried thinking, now what good is that going to do? She knew as a kid that it wasn't right! You're NOT ugly Bella, none of us Corgis are, or ANY dog/cat for that matter!!!!
Your aunt sounds mean! I love dogs with long bodies and short legs! that's why i have a doxie and a basset! even though daisy has long legs! you are the cutest corgi I've EVER seen! my neighbor has one, but i don't know them that well and well they kinda creep me out! (they are pentecostal which creeps me out!)
Ry's mom here! You are such a sweetie and you are beautiful. SPANKING! NO WAY! I don't understand why people think hitting a dog is going to help! Ry knows he's in trouble when I change my tone. He acts like he's been beaten when I use my stern tone! Rubbing dog noses in their pee is disgusting, degrading and inhumane...they have no idea why you are doing this because once they have relieved theirselves it's gone from their minds. Ry normally is good, it's Bogie who is the pain in the butt! He's hard headed, but he knows when he gets cabled that he screwed up once again! I have never laid a harsh hand on these two and they are both very loving friendly dogs...well, Bogie does try to act like he's a big bad body guard for his momma. That is until he gets to know you then he's a 70# lapdog.
You are still a baby in training! Run, laugh, love, but most important listen to your mom! Enjoy life and tell your aunt to stick it!
Kim doesn't visit often, does she?? Sorry she said those hurtful things about you. Don't listen to her...you are a very cute puppy! Us dogs know when we're in trouble by the sound of mom/dad's voice or by the finger that mom shakes at us. Mom senses that I've been beaten before because when I first got here, dad's belt would FREAK me out...just the sound of the metal clanging, and him taking it out of the closet. If I've had an accident in the house, I run up to them and roll over on my back, shivering, with my ears all the way back. I also cower like I'm about to be hit in the head when I've done something I know I shouldn't have (like shred and spread all the kleenex). It makes my mom sad when she sees me "over-react."
Maybe your mom's aunt doesn't see well because you are adorable. Mom says Butch may not see as well as he used to because he barked at this bear lawn ornament mom had. If your mom's aunt starts talking to a lawn ornament, you'll know she just has vision problems! ;) Poor Jax too! I would never go to someone's house and tell them their dog is ugly. That's no different than saying "Your daughter/son is one ugly kid!" It's just uncalled for. You can think my dogs are ugly, but you don't need to tell me! That's just rude. Manners apply to pets too!
