Squirrel question

Oreo on My Blog - Mon, August 06 2007

Hi, Oreo here! Ok, there's been this squirrel coming to the birdfeeder at the front window (3 feet away from our window spot, I might add). It's not a "regular" looking squirrel, it's about 1/3 the size of the ones around here, she has a black stripe separating the brown on her back from the creamy tummy, her tail isn't quite as bushy, her eyes are huge, nose small and she eats like a chipmunk!! Mom says "she's the cutest little thing" "looks like a Disney creation", I say she's just my size! Anyhoo.. is she a baby "regular" squirrel? Is she another type of squirrel, or is she.. ready for this?!... a squirrel/chipmunk (a squirmunk)?? Will someone help me? I've done all the research I can with my little paws and I can't seem to lable this one. I'm a very learned cat, but this one evades me.

Good idea, of course now the "regular" one is there. As soon as mom takes the pic I'll let you know!

The bigger squirrels we normally see are fox squirrels. There are smaller squirrels called red squirrels that are around here as well. I've seen one at my feeder before. You don't see them much because the fox squirrels run them off. I'm not sure if they have a black stripe though. Your squirrel could be something different.

Whatever they are, I am sure they need to be stalked and possibly killed.

Vermin....I say VERMIN, one and all. Annoying, nasty....scourge of the earth creatures! Phew, sorry....I lost it there for a minute. I gotta go outside and patrol the perimeter.

Oh that squirrel picture is SO cute!!! Oreo, you'll have to ask Kirby if this squirrel has yummy-tasting poo. I'll bet Kirby's on poo patrol in the backyard today!!

Charlie, I'll never know unless mom takes me to the front yard on my leash. The bird feeder is in the front yard. It used to be in the back yard, but when the squirrels dumped the food out, I'd eat it and poop bird seed.... or throw it up in the house. Mom said "no more". Whatever. *sigh* I can only wonder....
