Beverly does the same thing! As soon as one of the other dogs leave a bone unattended, she takes it. You can see on her profile a pic of her with two knucklebones. That's because she stole Butch's. My other dogs will take things from Bev though, so if they want it they'll just take it back. Bev has a big pillow in the front room and sometimes she'll hide the bone behind the pillow. I guess to her it's like burying it. I crack up everytime I find one back there!
I have no one to steal them from anymore. I used to live with a Doberman. I loved to steal her bones and add them to my pile. It was so funny to watch a 75-pound "vicious" Dobe lay a foot away from me and stare and whine. A low growl would usually just make her whine more. Although, now that I think about it, that was pretty much the end of me getting bones.
Maddie has certain stuffed animals (we call them babies) that she is partial to. She will focus on one for several days, not wanting to play with anything else, unless I take it away from her because it is gross with dog hooch. Every once in awhile Sydney will jump higher and grab it after I throw it, and take it over to the couch to lord it over Maddie that she caught it. Sydney never actually plays with it, just lies there gloating. Maddie will dart her eyes at me nervously, not really wanting to take them off of Sydney, then jump up and grab the baby as soon as Syd is distracted. Sometimes Maddie gets desperate waiting for an opening, and will run over to the door and bark, which causes Syd to abandon the baby. Then Maddie jumps up and gets it. And some people think that dogs can't make executive decisions! They make me laugh so much.
