Ear Infection

Oakley on Behavior - Sun, July 22 2007

I had to go to the vet yesterday. Mom noticed one of my ears was red and a bit inflammed. The doc said I had a staph infection and if not treated, it could spread. I got a shot and 10 days worth of meds. Anyone else had something like this. Mom has never had experience with anything like this and just wanted to know. Mom says that my ear is looking better already.

I usually get yeast infections, but occasionally I get a bacterial infection. I always get greasy ear drops that I hate.

I hear that labs are prone to ear infections because of their floppy ear shape that decreases the air circulation in/out of the ear. I bet Jersey Joe's mom would be able to help you out more since she's a groomer!

My ears get red and inflamed a lot. The vet has never classified them as a staph infection, so I don't know if this post will help. May help others though, for what my vet calls allergies or yeast infection.
My mom buys Zymox. The vet gave it to us the first time after he gave me a shot and some meds. After that we learned that 1800petmeds has it cheeper. If you don't beleive me, read the comments people have posted at that web site. It truly is a terrific fix for my ears. Just one or two treatments and my ears are great! I cannot say enough about it.

Thanks Bristol, mom says she is going to check that out and talk to the vet about the other infections so we will know the scoop.
