You came to me one snowy March day
So small but those big ol’ears got in the way
My birthday surprise in the big brown box
After a few days, you made chewies out of my socks
When you busted out of the crate on day three
I should have known what was in store for me
You’ve grown from a little pup to a great big boy
You brighten my day and fill my heart with joy
You’re silly and goofy and some times make me crazy
But you are the love of my life, my 4 legged baby.
My sweet darling Basset, you give my soul a lift
You are by far my favorite birthday gift.
