Yappy hour

Ally on Activities - Thu, May 10 2007

Does anyone know of a local pub on the southside that has an outside patio where a person could bring there fur baby and get a cocktail? In Columbus OH there were several local bars that had Yappy Hours every couple of weeks. Any suggestions!

I don't know of any but that sounds like a fabulous idea -- Corona on the patio is always excellent. Perhaps if some of the animal parents formed a small group and approached some of the local pub owners to see if we could hang there.......it never hurts to ask :-)

My mom and dad take me to hang out on the patio at Plumps. It is in Broad Ripple though, right off of the Monon. We usually go to the Bark park, then walk on the Monon, then have some drinks and food at Plumps. There are always lots of doggie friends there and they bring you water and treats. They bring drinks and treats to mom and dad too!

My mom's dream is to open a pet friendly bar. Until a gazilion dollars in capital is raised, we would also like to approach pubs for an official yappy hour.

Marty McFly -- with a name like that -- you should be able to persuade any bar owner to have a Yappy Hour.

If you visit a bar on a regular basis that has a patio just ask the owner if you can bring your pet. There is a place near my home that shall remain nameless that lets me sit on the patio even though its not a rule to allow pets. I am a little guy so that may play into their decision but its worth a try. Cant wait till Marty McFly opens his bar!

UPDATE!!!!!

I remembered seeing a ad a couple of years ago for a resturn in Zionsville that allowed you to bring your pet on Monday nights for dinner. Just called and they still let you. They actually said they promote it on Mondays but that any evening you can sit outside with your pet. They do not recomend a Friday or Saturday just because its so busy. I know its not on the south side but it is a great place for dinner.

I used to see a big great dane who sat with his dad on the outside patio of the Alcatraz Brewing Company downtown Indy on sunny days. You may want to call first though...

My Mommy takes me to SEVERAL dog friendly places that you would NEVER expect!
1) PALOMINO-- downtown! You can sit on the patio with your human
2) Bourbon Street Bar and Grill on Indiana downtown-- same deal!
3) Old North Point Tavern-- they have a GREAT outdoor patio with an awning. They will grill a chicken breast for you there, too! Mom said things deepfried or with barbecue sauce are not good for me so she gets a Stella Artois and a salad and I get chicken breast! YUM!

It seems like there is a serious shortage of places to hang out with your dog on the south side. We definitely need to work on that.

2 thoughts; one, do a post-search (above on right) for pet-friendly restaurants, because we've listed them before and second...call Hooters on the southside; the owner was going to do Tuesdays, I believe, for pets!

Oh no...some stupid human bought me a Halloween hat. Maybe my dog brothers will chew it up before I have to wear it!
