BSL is supposed to stand for Breed Specific Legislation. Personally I think it is Bu** S**t Legislation. What we heard is that for the time being Mayor Bart Peterson has dropped the issue. My understanding from what I heard on the news is that the cities that he was looking at as a model for what he is wanting to do could not prove that they had achieved the goals or resolved the issues that he was wanting it to take care of here. He also admitted that he could not get the votes to pass it in the legislation. For the time the battle is won but I am not sure the war is over. The Indy Pit Crew website has more information on this and great resources for those who have or love any "Bully Breeds". Please help to continue the education. These are wonderful animals in the correct loving homes. It is the owners not the dogs that have the problem.
It's never a good reason to ban any dog. Rottie, pits, german shepards, pinchers are all noble dogs. It's not the animals fault their humans aren't responsible pet owners. I just read on a site where Italy banned corgis, collies and St. Bernards saying they are dangerous dogs. What a crock. - http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8131
Thunder's Dad, would you want a law stating you had to muzzle your dog in public just because of its breed? The problem is NOT the dogs, it is stupid people who would take a reactive dog in public and not have it muzzled whether it is a cocker spaniel or one of the bully breeds. Maybe a better law would be to make the dog owner pass a competency test to ensure they were smart enough to own a dog, let alone take it out in public.
Well I dont feel that everyone who owns one is stupid but I dont feel its good to take chances. And I dont feel that its ok to go with out a muzzle unless your at the dog park. The dog park is a place where your dogs can be dogs. Anywhere else muzzle it or get a ticket I cant wait untill wayne county passes that law. I dont like republicans but in this case I do, I no for sure it will pass.
