It's Me or the Dog

Petey on My Blog - Tue, July 10 2007

While I have never been put in this predicament (thankfully), I was curious on how some of you would react in this given situation.

What would you do if your significant other was jealous of your pet and gave you the ultimatum "it's me or the dog?"

Easy question. It's the dog (and cat). I know if someone can't love them, they can't love me. If someone gets jealous of an animal, they have a whole lot of other issues.

My momma would definitly say "Bye i pick the dog." She just loves us too much to let us go. She has even told daddy that if he got allergic to any of us that he would either have to go on medicine or something. Cause she is just not letting us go.

I would just say the animals are staying and so am I so just get over it. I'm home all day the kids go to school you go to work. I need someone. And they are it. So Like I siad he would jst have to get over it.

I'd definitely keep the dog. Who's better at giving me endless love and kisses? Yep, the puppy wins over the boyfriend. Although I did make sure it was ok with him to keep Bella. Lol. Have you seen the show called 'it's me or the dog' on animal planet (i think). It's about dog training.

Definetly the dog, but one of the things I love most about my husband is that he is as big of an animal lover as I am.

I know for certain that my dad would pick us. He told my "hopefully future mommy" when they started dating that he couldn't be with someone who didn't love his dogs. Luckily, she loves us as much as he does so we don't have to worry about losing either one of them.

Mom is single so definately its us. She always says she can't date anyone that doesn't love animals and us as much as she does and can't handle us. A boxer and Giant Schnauzer are a lot to handle, maybe that is why she is still single :( Surely we wouldn't be the reason!!

The dog wins hands down. My Mommie would never get rid of me & Nadji & Jessica & Diva. No man that loves her would ask.

The dog wins! Compassion is attractive in a significant other, and if they can't show compassion to an animal that would be helpless and alone without you, they certainly won't be compassionate towards you!

Well, since one of the prerequisites to date our mama is that the guy has to be a dog (animal) lover, hopefully my mama would never have to make that choice, cuz we all know what it would be! HeeHee

Our Mom says she wouldn't even get serious about anyone who didn't love dogs. Our "Uncle" loves us and plays with us a lot when he comes here. Mom says he gets us all worked up and into sensory overload before he leaves. Mom once told the man who used to be our dad that she had dogs before she met him and she would have dogs after he was long gone. Now he's history and we're here. Awesome !!!

There is a book called 1001 ways to be romantic or something close to that. It is written in this book.....If you give your significant other the choice of them or the dog...the dog will win every time. DON'T GO THERE!!

I could never see myself with a man who didn't love Ernest T. Love me, love my dog. It's as easy as that.

I could not imagine anyone not loving Ernest T! Just look at him! Everytime I see his pic, I want to give him a big squeeze! :)
I wouldn't give Bev up for anything or anybody. I've had men come and go, but my dogs are forever!

If, in my dating days, a girlfriend had made that sort of demand, I'd have told her "Don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on the way out." (Not that any of them would have; I never dated anyone who didn't like pets.)

I believe when you adopt a pet it's a life long commitment. As long as my pets live, they'll be with me. I am their "Mom". If a selfish jerk said, "me or the dog", well, he would've just given me proof that he might be a little bit psycho. He'd have to go!!! BTW, I am recently married(about 2 months)and my husband is not as much of an animal lover as I am, but he loves ME and he knows I love them, so he's sleeping with two cats in his(our) bed every night!!!:)(I personally would like to get a king size bed and add our dog Bronx to the mix but he did put his foot down about that!!!)

I told my wife on our first date that, though she was allergic to my dog, that I would never get rid of her for any reason. She's come around and her body has gotten used to Gypsy being around...almost no allergic reaction anymore.

Dog. All the way. I'm more of a dog person than people person.
