Having Feline Leukemia and Aids

Bailey & Bandit (In Memory) on Health - Fri, April 20 2007

I just found out I have feline leukemia and aids. I feel fine and I don't think there is anything wrong with me, but I need to take medicine everyday. I hate that stuff, it is cold and tastes awful. Everytime my owners give it to me I try not to swallow it but they think I'm choking so they blow in my mouth to make sure it goes down.

Hang in there Bailey. I hope you're as comfortable as possible.

Just take it one day at a time and spend lots of quality time with the humans.

Bailey I'm so sad for you. I hope you get better. Give your parents kitty hugs from me.

Bailey, many many kitties live long and happy lives with Flv/FIV. Unfortunately, you can't have a brother or sister in the house with you unless they're positive, too, but just take your meds and be happy your mom and dad are caring for you. And be sure to let your folks know if you start feeling crummy. You'll probably have to take a quick trip to the vet, but you'll be fine. :)

Sorry to hear it Bailey but from what I hear lots of kitties live long and happy lives. Oh and tell your parents that if they rub your throat it'll help your medicine go down. Also they can tell if you swallow it or not by whether or not you lick your nose. Good luck mate!

Hi Bailey! I was diagnosed with FIV too last year. Mom cried for a few days but she now sees that I am still happy and can still live a long life. I hate those meds too though. Are you talking about that nasty tasting liquid. The only good thing about it is that is helps my appetite so I eat more. If you or your Mom ever need someone to talk to my Mom and I would be glad to help. Hang in there though we can still live a long and happy life.

I had a brother, T~Maxx, and he had the Leukemia. He actually, live for several years before passing away! You will be fine and I know the meds are yucky but it is what needs to happen. Maxx didn't have meds because he was to hard to catch to give it to him.
