Any Litter Kwitter advice

Lynn on Training - Thu, May 13 2010

I've been thinking about trying to toilet train Izzy. Izzy is prone to litterbox acrobatics. She hates touching the litter and will contort her fat little self into crazy positions to get her business done while minimizing litter contact. It doesn't matter that I scoop daily and clean the box with soap and water every month. I've even tried different types of litter to see if maybe that's her issue.

I've done a bit of reading and found a product called the Litter Kwitter training system. It wasn't cheap but I do like that it is re-usable. So I can use it to train all future felines. Does anyone here have a toilet trained kitty? And if so, do you have any words of wisdom to share?

Years ago my friend shelby had a cat that was trained to pee in the toilet, a partial Litter Kwitter, if you will. It was very helpful in keeping the box dry and odor free when they went on vacation, etc. However, one night her mother-in-law did not realize the cat was using the facilities and almost sat on him. Both mother-in-law and tomcat screeched their terror of the other in the dark.
