mats

Denny Crane on Grooming - Sun, July 01 2007

Do any of you other DSH cats have to put up with some human trying to get mats out of your fur? I thought that brushing might feel good for a little while, but when she got to those MATS, I had to swat her with my claws out! I groom myself regularly, as I am quite the ladies man (Denny Crane), so I don't know why I am having this problem. Never used to happen, and I am eating the same food as always. Sometimes she comes at me with scissors. Imagine! The end result is NOT what you would call sartorial splendor. Can any of you suggest anything that would help so she would leave me alone with that accursed brush?

Hey Denny Crane I know all about the knots. I've got this long silky fur that normally is fine on its own, but sometimes... ugh. Meg loves to get the brush and the scissors out too and go at it. One thing she does that really makes it kinda nice is she gets my bag of treats out too! Well, I'm a smart cat and I know what a bag of treats look like so I get excited and try to eat the treats through the bag. Meg was really nice about all this and when she started all this grooming stuff she would just brush me where I liked it while giving me a treat every couple of minutes. Well, now when I see the brush I get excited cause that means I get treats! So, I typically can hang out longer on some of those stubborn knots. Plus, sometimes when I'm sleeping I'll wake up and find I'm missing some hair... I'm thinking Meg goes after me with the scissors when I am coma kitty... Anyway, good luck!!
