Bedtime Habits

Boomer on My Blog - Tue, June 19 2007

I was just wondering if any pets out there have any bedtime habits? I know I do! When Dad turns off the main light in the apartment I head straight for the spot on the desk where he puts his laptop. When he adjusts his pillows and blanket, turns on the air, and washes his face he comes over and pets me from head to tail three times and two little scratches behind my ears. (If he fails to do so, I give a gentle,"meow," as a reminder.) Then he goes to bed. After about an hour of laying on the desk I go to my bed right beside Dad and lay down for a nice nighttime snooze. I would love to go to the window seat, but the outside nightlight shines right there and it makes it hard to sleep. Oh well, I either get to look out the window all night or sleep in my window seat. I can't have both Dad says. Early in the morning Dad wakes up and I follow him into the kitchen where we both have some breakfast. On weekends however I tend to get annoyed because he likes to sleep in, so I go in there and play with his nose to get him up. Sigh. Oh well, that's my bedtime routine. Any others out there who have similar occurances? Get annoyed when you don't recieve three pets before bed? Tell me! I'm one curious cat!

My mama says, "Bed, Ted", and whereever I am, I come running into her room, get all the way under the covers and curl up next to her.

I don't really have a routine. I usually fall asleep on the couch or in the other bedroom, and because my mama wants me in bed with her, she picks me up and takes me to bed. Kind of a sweet deal, if you think about it, huh?

My Mommy and Daddy give my kitty brother and I our medicine and then say lets goo NI NI and we all go running into the bedroom. I usually look out the windowe for a bit and Vegas jumps up and lays on Dad's chest. Eventually I make my way into the bed too. We are one big happy family!

Mom tells me when it is time for bed and then I follow her around as turns off the lights and turns on the nightlight for the parakeets (otherwise they have night terrors) and then I go with her when she takes Phoenix to the toilet for his nighttime potty and then she puts him to bed and pets Tingy goodnight, then we go to bed. AND THEN I GO CRAZY!!!!! Everynight, it is the same thing...when mom is finally in bed I have to bug her and jump on her for at least 15 minutes until I am satisfied that she is really tired enough to be going to sleep. Once I calm down she tucks me in and we go to sleep.

Mom just says its time to go to bed and we all flop down to go to sleep!! I like to sleep behind the big tv in the big living room. Bones and Buddy start out in the living room with me and then wander into the bedroom with mom. Sneakers always sleeps with mom. Mookie and Binx always sleep in there too but they sleep on the floor. Mom says there isn't enough room for everybody on the bed anymore!!

we have to have a routine!!! joe is downstairs on the couch sleeping, and jasper and mike are up on the main floor while we watch tv. at around 11pm, i say to jasper, "lets get joe!" and then open the back door to let jasper out (with joe sluggishly coming up the stairs to the door, LOL). they go out, then i hook mikey's leash on and take him out front to potty. then i take mike down to his crate, tell him to "go nite nite", and he gets in his crate, turns around and waits for his treat. shut off lights in that room, go up, let joe and jasper in...joe RUNS to his crate and waits for his treat, jasper takes his time, they both get treats, i say, "go nite nite"" and they eat their treats and lay down. THEN, i have speedy and stuart SCREAMING at me, saying, "NOWWWWW! NOWWWWWW!" so i have to give them a can of merrick before they chew off my arm. {whew} then after all that, i get a glass of wine and chill. :)

The doggies get gated up in mom and dad's room when they go to bed and then it's kitty play time for about an hour. SERIOUS playtime. We run at full speed All over the house, upstairs and downstairs!! After we're pooped, we then sleep wherever we want! I usually sleep above mom's head. Night time is FUN!!!!!

I don't get in the bed until after the human is settled. I have to investigate the whole house first to make sure no critters are getting in (or trying to hang out in the backyard). Once it's all clear, then it's time to curl up and sleep.

My sis Nita and I sleep nearby while Mom reads, but when she's ready to turn in around 11, that's when we come alive and race through the house. We get all that pent-up emotion out of our system, then we join Mom in the big bed. (Once, when she stayed up late on the weekend, we went upstairs to bed without her!) In the morning, it's a different story: Mom's not a "morning person," so we have to get her up. Nita slings her body against Mom and purrs loudly in her ear. I sharpen my claws on the wicker planter holder in the corner. Works every time.
