I posted a month or so ago about the leasing office trying to make my neighbors get rid of their dog, Castro, because of his breed. For those who didn't read the first post, they were told by one property manager that they COULD have Castro and then when that manager was fired, another property manager said they had to get rid of him as the neighborhood apparently does not allow rottweilers (he is mixed with rott, lab and shepherd, and as a side note, sweet as can be.)
When my neighbors took this matter to the corporate office, (I won't mention the property name because it's a pretty popular one,) they also told my neighbors Castro had to go. My neighbors even had copies of the paperwork they filled out at the rental office when they got him!
But ANYWAY... it turns out the property manager who told them they could NOT keep Castro was recently fired as well. (We're going through these guys like water...) When I talked to my neighbor today, he said the apartment complex had changed their minds and are allowing them to keep Castro through their lease, as which point they will DEFINITELY be looking into buying a house where they do not have to face this kind of situation again. I've said it before and I will say it again; I just don't think that breeds should ever be the reason for excluding a dog from anything! All dogs are capable of biting. If the dog's temperament is social and friendly, I say have them in the neighborhood. Maybe that's just me.
