MRI's?

Leopold & Teri on Health - Mon, September 08 2008

Poor Leo is starting to display some signs of having Syringomyelia. Is Purdue the only place around here to take him for an MRI? Other Universities are doing studies on this and I can get him checked for a lot cheaper. None of them are close to Indy.

I can not help you on an MRI. What is Syringomyelia? I have never heard of this. Hope Leo gets well soon.

Poor little Leo. I was just talking to my friend that you referred to Cavalier rescue and she might be getting a foster from them. She said that she had a friend whose Cav had this. When I worked at IVEC, they used to do them at St Francis. I don't know if they still do but I would think so. I know our rescue takes some dogs to the University of Illinois to get some speciality treatments. I'm sorry to hear this-poor little guy. What about Dr Lee in Anderson? I'm not sure if he has access to an MRI but I know they do a lot of things that others don't.

I'm so glad to hear your friend might get a foster. Let me know how Augie takes to the new playmate. I'm going to take Leo to his Vet first and see if he can diagnose him. I was putting the cart before the horse by trying to find a place for cheaper MRI's.

Syringomyelia is when the skull is to small giving the brain no where to go. This causes fluid to build up on the spine resulting in severe pain. Thank you for your good wishes Star Hunter.
