Celebrate Wyatt's Life On Saturday

Derek & Amy on Activities - Wed, September 03 2008

Friends -

As many of you on this board will remember, back in May, my and Amy's lives were irrevocably altered when our youngest dog - our beloved Melanie - died suddenly and unexpectedly in a freak incident involving a post-surgical blood clot, despite heroic efforts by her veterinarian to save her - http://www.indypaws.com/post/index/17059 and http://www.indypaws.com/post/index/17322

Two weeks after we lost Melanie, our beagle Wyatt (who you see in my avatar) was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphoma. Within a few days of his diagnosis, we started chemo at Veterinary Speciality Center with Dr. Lucroy. Wyatt did incredibly well on chemo for a full two months - two months in which we made the most of our time with him (you can see some of the wonderful memories we made by visiting this web page - http://web.mac.com/derekf).

We lost Wyatt to cancer on August 7th. Jay Gatsby, our 14 year old dog, is having a hard time, having lost his friends Wyatt and Melanie in just a few months.

Please join us to honor Wyatt's memory, help animals who are homeless in the same way he was, and give Jay Gatsby hugs at this painful time.

I'm so sorry. I remember Wyatt posting on here from time to time. I love that pic of him in his jersey that you have posted on his IndyPaws profile. What a cute baby. My heart goes out to you, Amy, and Jay Gatsby for your losses over the past several months.

I am so sorry for your most recent loss, as I know you are still recovering from the loss of Melanie. Celebrating their lives is the best tribute we can give them. You are all in my prayers.

Sounds like my mom, god love her (and I do too) - she called the other day because she just "thought i should know" that you increase the risk of birth defects if you are over 30 when you have kids.

I have finally told her that she needs to relax and every time she brings it up I'm going to treat her like Nigel when he is being "bad" - I'm going to ignore her until she modifies her behavior. it's worked so far :)
