I got sucked in here on IP. lol Someone posted about needing to fill a couple of legs of the transort so I sent an e-mail the the coordinator. From then on I was on some sort of list that now I get notified anytime these particular rescues need help. The next time I hear of a transport, I'll let you know and give you the e-mail address of the coordinator in case you want to help. I have found transports to be very rewarding. Well, except for the one speeding ticket I got while doing one. hehehe
I think transporting a rescue animal should get you out of a ticket! You're doing a good deed for Heaven's Sake! I wouldn't mind doing a transport here and there. I never had carriers before, but I'm equipped now!!
I TOLD the State Trooper that I was doing a dog transport because he asked if the 2 VERY large, excited German Shepards in my car were friendly. I told him I wasn't absolutely certain because they weren't mine, but I couldn't imagine a rescue sending them to their forever homes if they were mean.He didn't seem to care about the transport, he just didn't want to get bit....
Don't get me wrong, I WAS speeding, I just didn't realize it. Now, I set the cruise control. lol
To Shari and anyone else interested in transports: I got involved with pet transport by signing up for the animal transport network on yahoo groups. I get a daily digest with all the transports in the works by other members or people they are crossposting for. If I reply to one, whether or not I end up doing the transport the coordinators usually ask if they can keep my info for future transports and I say yes.
