New Foster

Stacy on Activities - Wed, August 27 2008

Well, I tried to create a profile and upload a pic of my new foster, but as usual I'm getting internal 500 errors from this site. I'm tired and frustrated, and I really can't understand why this site constantly has problems!!! Anyway, my new foster is a guinea pig! She is really cute. She's black and white and only about 5 or 6 months old. She hasn't been named yet. I'm thinking Gwen, but I haven't decided. Unfortunately, she is pregnant. She is part of a rescue A Critter's Chance did last weekend. They took in 40 or more animals (guinea pigs, hamsters, and a few reptiles I think). All of the animals were not being properly cared for. There is no way a guinea pig this young should be pregnant. That is why I was asked to foster because we need to keep a close eye on her. Because of poor nutrition and care, her baby may not be born alive. Everyone please say a prayer for this sweet girl. These animals are so often over-looked, but they deserve proper care and a good life too. It's sad how many there are who just aren't taken care of.

Update: I was able to get her pic loaded this morning. There's a post from her in the pet section.

So THAT is what is on the table!! I've been sniffing around. My sneaky mom has her on the dining room table with a towel over part of her cage, so we can't see her. Mom is tricky, I tell you! Excuse me while I go sniff!!

Poor little thing. You have our prayers. Do you know how far along Gwen is?

I don't really know how long their gestation period is, but she is ready to have the baby anytime! I'm a little nervous. I hope everything goes well for her.

I LOVE GUINEA PIGS! Too bad they make me get hives and close up my airway, otherwise we'd have one or two! I grew up with G Pigs and my brother's actually had 2 healthy babies. She was pregnant when we got her, of course we didn't know that. A few weeks later, mine gave birth to a stillborn.... I was so sad but like you said, both of our piggies were pregnant WAY too young.

My little guy, Scooter (who looked like a dalmation) was by besy buddy all through my college years. I even took him to class with me once!!

Good luck with your new piggie and we'll pray that all goes well with her birth. You're a great foster mom, Stacy. Thanks for taking care of her.

Congrats on your new foster! I had a pregnant piggy once. Her name was Daisy. I wasn't there when she gave birth but the babies were so cute. Guinea pigs are great pets. I love it when they sing and chirp when you come home.

I've been getting that 500 server message too. I emailed them yesterday. We'll see.

Awe, Gwen! She's a cutie and I hope all goes well with her pregnancy/delivery. At least she is in a loving home now that will treat her good and feed her well. Yay, Stacy!
