Pumpkin!

Perl on Nutrition - Tue, August 26 2008

Oh boy have I got news for you!

It was decided recently that certain leg-injured beagles need to lose weight ... not that I was consulted, but, there it is. (Whoomp.) That's bad enough, but being called The Round Mound of Hound is that little bit above the limit that can make a beagle take steps. However, that would mean giving up naps, so nevermind.

Anyway, because of this, the bipeds have been giving us a lot of filler with our food: things like green beans, peas, etc. This keeps the tummy full, and thus keeps us from gnawing on furniture, shoes, bipeds, etc. Lately they tried something new: pumpkin!!!!!

For the love of Snoopy, where has this been all my life? I'd give up my kibble for this stuff. In fact, if I had to chose between this and a grilled cheeseburger, it would be a close call. I could eat that stuff all die (and tried to last night ... and I'd have done it, too, if not for those meddling kids).

If you must go on a diet, ask your bipeds for this stuff. Ours is sugar-free, and Beau and I still jump on it like a politician on a stupid idea.

The special one, Andy, ate green beans all of the time.
Now for me, I will never eat green beans. I'm like my skin brother....he never ate the beans when growing up.

I have to admit that the pumpkin sounds interesting. My problem is that I'm at an ideal weight and mom won't give me any snacks/treats very often. What is your ideal weight? My vet wants me between 22 and 25 pounds....I'm at 23.4 lbs.

Round Mound of Hound...That Turrible... I've gotten the green beans before, delicious. I'll have to give pumpkin a shot. Good Luck on the diet. Just remember....Chubby dogs are harder to kidnap ;0)

Haven't tried pumpkin yet for my diet... tried everything else, though.

Someone had posted some time back about freezing pumpkin into pumpkin cubes. That would have been so delicious in the heat we had last week.

Oh, the pumpkin diet, it's so wonderfully filling . . . I am the new svelte Starter because of pumpkin with my kibble. Mom has reduced my kibble intake by half (1/2 c 2x daily) and added about 1/4 c of pumpkin to my food. I'm down 5 pounds, which is what the vet told Mom to get off my bod. Perl isn't kidding, guys! This stuff ranks right up on the same line with BCBs. Trekkie doesn't get any mixed in her food, but she always gets to lick the spoon. No corpulent corgis at this place!

Mom says me and my brother Hunter both need to lose about 8 pounds a piece. Where can she find this delicious sounding pumpkin stuff? I don't think I would mind being on a diet if its tasty!

It is just in the canned vegetable aisle, but don't get "pumpkin pie filling" or you won't lose weight! get just regular old 'pumpkin'

Mom says that she gets my pumpkin (just the plain stuff, not the pie filling) in the baking aisle (at Meijer and also Target) where the other pie fillings are.

We get pumpkin a couple times a week! We love it! Ma also makes us pumpkin/peanut butter treats. Now that's good eatin'!

Whoomp, there it is!

Oh boy! Last week we got to see Grandma and Grandpa! And the other Grandma and Grandpa! Well, Grandma and Grandpa ... no, not that Grandma and Grandpa, the other Grandma and Grandpa ... live in Jackson County and they brought watermelon! Jackson County watermelon! Oh boy! My favorite! Especially when the small bipeds are clumsy and drop it! Numnumnumnumnum!
