Stupid old man on a bike

Debbie on Behavior - Mon, August 25 2008

As I was walking Hoovie this morning, Kirby and Lola already had their round, this old fart came riding by on his bike. I know that Hoover barks and goes crazy, so I usually just stand still until the biker passes. That's what I did, Hoover was barking and the guy kept starting at him, and he looks at Hoover and says "D@MN!". I just brushed it off that the guy was impressed at Hoover's persistance (ya, right) and kept on going.

Right in front of our house, guess who comes riding by again? The dude... He kept staring at us, like he was hoping to catch Hoover in another barking fit. I swear, this guy was riding around looking for us to test Hoover. We don't live on a main street in our neighborhood and bikers rarely ride by, unless it's kids. I stared right back at him like..."what?" He didn't say anthing and neither did Hoover or I.
I've never seent his guy before and if he doesn't like my pooper, Hoover he can go ride hs bike somewhere else!

We didn't like him.

Ya I would have been weirded out by him. What a jerk!

It's too bad that this man
said that bad word.
Did you picture in your mind of him having a flat tire and then you going over to him and peeing on his foot? I would have. A little water will usually cool things down.
Heehee.

I think I'd be a bit worried about this guy if I were you. This behavior does not fall into my category of "normal". Of course, I'm a bit paranoid about people hanging about acting odd. I live in one of those "don't be stupid" neighborhoods.

Mom says if someone doesn't like me, then she doesn't like them.

Me too. Personally, I'd be worried about this guy taking an interest in your neighborhood if he doesn't live there. But like marci, I'm more inclined to see the worst in people and am paranoid when people walk down our alley that I don't recognize as living in the neighborhood.

I'll keep my eye out for him tomorrow. I'm very paranoid, too. People like him stick out like a sore thumb in our neighborhood since it's very safe and quiet. I don't take that for granted though...

It's funny Hoover didn't bark at him the 2nd time! That guy was probably in a crappy mood and just looking for someone to vent on. A-Hole!!

You should listen to your intuition on this one. I have heard of people stealing dogs to "rehome or resell"...It is sad but true. Keep an eye out and don't let the dogs out w/o someone being able to see them...

Or he's just trying to find out who's not at work during the day/who has dogs to pick which houses to break into.

Good thought. You know, now that I think back, Hoover was barking differently at that man. It wasn't just a let-me-chase-the-bike bark.

Of course I was embarrassed that he was acting up but there must have been a reason. I told my neighbor about him and she'll keep an eye out too.
