We have added to our pack ONLY after the newest one was completely trained. Gordon is finally feeling better so now its time to do some basic training. I am so used to my dogs already understanding the "go" command that it is incredibly frustrating sometimes when I tell Gordon to "go" and he just looks at me and wags his tail instead of "going". Gotta love this handsome boy, but I think"go" is the first command we are going to teach him. "go" is short for "go lay down", we use this alot when we are petting one dog and another tries to come up and horn in on their lovins time.
I guess we're really blessed to have all of our dogs and cats get along. They all live in harmony which is why I can't foster. The last time I did it was very stressful to my 2 cats, Oreo and Cookie. For right now, we're going to stay one happy little family, just the way we are.
I hope you get some sleep tonight, Connie!!!
Yeah, we are lucky that our pack all gets along too. I know how stressed I got when Jake and Hunter were fighting all the time.
Hope you get some quality sleep tonight Connie!
Thankfully, she did go home last night. Whew.
I am going to work with Curt's ex to help train the dog. I figure we will keep her other times in the future as we all promised Tyler we would try and help him keep the dog (although why a kid on his way to college decides to adopt a high-energy Aussie is beyond me).
I like Rhonda's Go command. I'll show Lisa how to teach Essie to go to a mat or something. That's what drives me nuts the most. I was looking for something on the floor and Essie got down to "help" me and tried to herd me all over the floor. She also is always grabbing my arm, which is something my two border collies always used to do. She just puts her jaws around my wrist and tries to get me to go places.
I need to get her a group of ducks to herd or something.
