Ok, this is it. It's my big day to go get my first heartworm treatment. Mom's really super nervous about it but I'm doing pretty good. My auntie Gretchen said she could go along with us if mom needed some moral support. I've heard it really hurts bad and for a couple of days afterwards too. I also heard there will be no more Eagle Creek walks for awhile. I've been doing really good with my training and manners. I even go lay down in my crate sometimes when everybody else is hanging around in the living room. I've settled down quite a bit although I still get really excited at dinner time. I've learned to take treats nicely and wait for my food. It's a pretty cushy gig I got here. I just hope this HW thing doesn't mess me up. Wish me luck and I'll try to let you know how I'm feeling later.
I have a really good feeling about you , Scamper . You are such a perky, happy little dog , I know you can lick this ( no pun intended ) all paws crossed -good luck
Good luck to you! My foster sister has had the injections already and is in her confinement period. Mom and foster sis (Sophie) are counting the days till the end of captivity - 15 to go! The confinement is way worse on Sophie than the injections were.
Our thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery. I know you will feel so much better when you are done with treatment and will be on the way to getting that forever home!
I had the treatment about 3 years ago. My vet kept me there for 2 nights after the first injection. He said I did really well with no complications. To this day though, I still have a bit of a bump on my back where I got the injections.
Prayers are out to you that you do just as well as I did.
