Hello my canine buddies!
Am I glad to be back home! Back in my yard, back with my three soccer balls (each one different, each one special, each one loved).
First I sniffed a brand new human while I visited my cousin, Kaya The Rotten, err, the Rottie. She's about a gazillion pounds of slobbery-stepping-on-your-toes-play-with-me-did-ya-miss-me-I-missed-you loving. My mom thinks she is the sweetest smartest dog ever. All because when you talk to her, she tilts her head and perks her ears and generally acts like she understands everything humans are saying. So what if she can fetch the box of baby wipes or diapers or puts things in the trash can...she can't do it without slobbering over everything. Besides what good is a diaper covered in slobber?
Anywho, I ended up bonding with my bi-ped cousin, Mimi. She's four and I slept in her pink, frilly, little girl's room every night. She decided that she's my dog whisperer and loves me to death. She said, "See, Carolina listens to me. She needs to live in my house. I'm her dog whisperer, like Cesar Mulan." Yeah, no one wanted to tell her Mulan is a cartoon character.
This is what Mimi the Dog Whisperer does to Kaya:

Then we went to our old stomping grounds. WOW! You really don't forget your old walk, ya know? It all smelled familiar, but new. It was great seeing my old running buddy, my Auntie Nancy. She's training for another marathon and took me for an "easy" 5 miler one morning, but I was panting hard by mile 3 or 4, so she conceded to walk the rest. I slept great that night.
I saw my old buddy Sabrina for a playdate, she's a rescued Begian Shepherd or something. She looks like a slimmer, super fluffy, all black version of Lassie. Smart too. Her mom swears Sabrina has opposable thumbs...we opened up the treat tin and gorged. Turns out that they are baby-human treats, so people were not pleased, especially the one year old twins that they belonged to. Sorry Audrey and Macy. That Sabrina is always getting me in trouble.
Then I had to spend a few days with a neighbor while my folks went out of town. They came back smelling of travel, other dogs (apparently the dog-in-laws), and sadness. Right away, I knew I had to comfort Dad the best I could.
Now, everything is more or less back to normal. But man, what a wild and crazy ride it's been.
