Shouldn't I WANT to go out?

Andy on Behavior - Mon, August 04 2008

Do any of you other lazy hounds out there get totally annoyed by your moms and dads when they make you go out in the morning? I don't know about you guys, but if I don't get a solid 15 hours of sleep a day, I am not pleasant to deal with. Mom doesn't get it. In the morning when she tells me and Nicholas it is time to go potty, he darts out of bed like it is the most exciting thing in the world! I look at her, yawn and go back to sleep! She tells me I am worse than getting a child up for school. What can I say...I love my sleep!

I am soooo with you on this issue, Andy. What are the 'rents thinkin'???? Just 'cause they gotta get up and go to work (to pay for our stuff)....why in the world would they think we would want to participate in their schedule? Jeeeez!

I get up at 5:30 during the week and 7:00 on the weekends.
I have no problems about going out the first thing because I know there was a critter in the yard during the night. The only time I hate going out in the morning is when it is raining. Now I don't mind if mom takes me on a walk in the rain.

Um, yeah, I'm not an early hound. I have to be carried out of bed, and then outside, too. On the deck, I stretch every leg and yawn. Then I give a good body shake, and a few scratches before heading to the grass.

I like my beauty sleep too! My bis sis Reese jumps around too much in the morning (what is she so excited about???) and I have to remind her I don't do mornings. Mom usually calls me grumpy-butt and lets me snuggle in her bed under the covers. I just don't get it, why go out when there is a warm bed to snuggle in?

I'm up as early as possible (between 5:30 and 7:00 am every day). Gotta go see who/whats been in my yard overnight. We have everything from shrews to possums to other dogs. I HAVE to make the "rounds" ASAP!

I'm slow to start but once outside, I tear through the yard to pee and then come straight inside to chase Maggie!

Me and Roo are early uppers in our house too but we have seperate potty time so Mom doesn't have to worry (I'm first, naturally). BUT, as soon as we come back in, it's snuggle up time in the blankets for a few more winks of shut eye. Luckily, Daddy likes to sleep in so we always have a co-partner (Mom is get up early / stay up late)

I'm lucky. Normally, I get up about 3 or 4 to go outside. Then, we go back to sleep. Mama gets up but she lets me sleep in. She even covers up my head so the light doesn't bother me. Papa's up not too long after Mama leaves, he lets me go out with him and do my business while he reads the paper.

I used to be an up-and-at-'em Basset, but now I like to sleep in as long as possible. Mom makes me get up about 7, but I go back to sleep about 8 and stay in bed until about 11.

I like to get up about 5 a.m. I am up until about 8 and then it's lights out again until lunchtime.

I used to be an up and at 'em kind of guy, but now mom's been walking me earlier in the morning before she showers because it has been so hot out and it is cooler... I usually have to be coaxed downstairs, but once I'm down, I'm ready to go! that is, unless it's too hot out and then I just like to lay on the A/C vent.

Who isn't ready to get up and at em? 5:30 or 6:00 every morning! Dad hasn't heard that alarm clock since I found my way to him! Every now and then, that weather radio will go off on me, though. I hate that thing! It makes me think I've overslept! Then it starts talking!
