What is your dog/s potty sign?

Myra on Behavior - Fri, August 01 2008

Im curious....What sign does your dog or dogs give you to let you know
that they have to go potty?I ask this because while Im sitting here on the computer Casey was trying to get my attention that he had to go outside! He usually will go and scratch at the back door, but if I am on the computer he will come and paw at my chair and my arm!

We (Hoovie and I) go to the back door and 'honk' to let mom know it's now or never!

I just stand by the back door and hope that someone sees me. If not..well...I'll pee in the house. *grin*

We both stand at the back door. If its really bad, Sheila moans, and I just act up.

I jump around and then look at the back door if we are in the kitchen. If we are in the bedroom, I jump around and run down the hall.

I have a dance. It's the 'run to Mom then back to the door' dance over and over again. Andy just sits at the door until he is let out...so lazy!

I've never been able to get Titus to learn a proper signal for "I gotta go". If he needs to go he'll stare at you intently. And will jump up and runs to the back door when he hears you utter any word with a Oh or Pee sound. Oh for outside :)~

I sit by the back door but if mommy is busy and pretends to not see me, I go & sit down right in front of her, very intently, and stare until she gets the hint.

Climb all over Mommy and run around in circles til she says "FINE I'LL TAKE YOU OUT!" If she doesn't, I just go sneak a poo in the bathroom. Bad bad FiFi, that's what Mom says, but I say it's all her fault. :) xoxo FiFi

I just whine...then when I get outside I have to do a pre-poop pirouette.

I'm a moaner. The deeper the moan, the more Mom knows the urgency. I also bunny bounce at the back door if Mom's in the room and I gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now.

Yeah...I just whine and whine and whine until Mom gets it.

I do that too Casey! I will scratch at the back door and if mom and dad is in the bedroom I will scratch at the bedroom door. When mom is on the computer I also paw at her arm. Wow, we have so much in common. :)

Ruckus will get right in your face with a really intense stare. "Do you wanna go potty?" gets the reply of a big kiss on the face and a quick trot to the backdoor.

I let my mom know when I need to go out by ringing the bell on our back door. I taught my mom that when I ring the bell she has to get up and let me out. Now I am teaching my sister, Storm to ring the bell. My two puggy sibs are too short and can't reach the bell.

We go to the door and grab those bells and bang them loudly, Except lazy Sammi she never moves til mom offers her food or makes her go out with us.
I personally like to chew the leather as I ring those bells.
Mom says we could get a job as bell ringers.

I do the same thing! Mom tells me I need to have a "sign"....I guess she wants me to jump up and down or something...and then she gets upset when she :-) doesn't see me by the backdoor. She also says I was a "late bloomer" with the potty training... something about me being 9 months old before I went to the door.....
